CoWhat is Celiac Disease?
Celiac disease is a digestive disease that damages the small intestine and interferes with the absorption of nutrients from food. People who have celiac disease cannot tolerate a protein called gluten, found mainly in wheat, rye and barley. Gluten is found mainly in foods but may also be found in products we use every day, such as salad dressings, medicines, and vitamins.
What is the treatment?
The only treatment for celiac disease is to follow a gluten-free diet. A gluten-free diet means not eating foods that contain wheat (including spelt, triticale, and kamut), rye and barley. The foods and products made from these grains are also not allowed.
Why Grandma's Gone Gluten Free?
Having been diagnosed with Celiac several years ago I have experimented with many different recipes for baked goods that are both appetizing and healthy.
After many trials, errors and burnt offerings I have developed these items that are consistent in quality, texture and taste that all Gluten-free appetites will enjoy.
